Root Canal Procedures
In Post Falls

Root canal procedures allow the Syringa Dental and Implants team to preserve your natural tooth while removing the infected pulp that may be causing issues or pain.

ROOT CANAL

When cavities or damage is left untreated, it can reach deep into the root, causing permanent damage.

Root canal procedures to save your tooth are required when damage to the nerve is beyond the body’s ability to repair itself. When this happens, the pulp needs to be removed, cleaned, and the tooth fortified. This is known as a root canal or root canal treatment.

Does a root canal hurt?

Easily the first question we get here at Syringa Dental and Implants is does a root canal hurt? We use local anesthetic to ensure you experience no pain during your root canal procedure. Post-procedure, you may experience some minor pain or discomfort, which can be mitigated with icing and over-the-counter pain medicine. Our team will discuss your after care plan with you in detail so you’ll have an idea of what to expect.

Root Canal FAQs

How long does a root canal take?

Depending on the quantity and length of your roots, a root canal procedure can take 30-60 minutes with more complex cases taking upwards of 90 minutes. Most root canal procedures can be completed in one sitting but  more than likely you will need to schedule a follow-up appointment with us for a tooth crown.

Do I need a crown after a root canal?

The short answer, yes, most likely you will need a crown after your root canal. Crowns help to protect the tooth after the work performed during the root canal, preventing further infection or disintegration of the tooth.

Can I smoke after a root canal?

We encourage all Syringa Dental patients to not smoke after a root canal. Post-root canal, your mouth is healing from a fairly invasive procedure and smoke can delay the healing process. Smoking can cause inflammation around the tooth making it harder for you to fight off infection. Please speak with the Syringa Dental Team if you have any concerns or need smoking cessation resources.

How much does root canal cost?

Root canal treatment costs range by tooth location. Front teeth $600-$1,110, Premolar $700-$1,300 and Molars $800-$1,500. Most major dental insurers help to cover the costs of a root canal procedure so we encourage all our patients to reach out to our Insurance Coordinator prior to scheduling a root canal treatment.
